ONIS QUICK ACTION LINE BLIND

When a valve's leakage is not permitted
Contact us

ONIS QLB outperforms traditional blinding methods like spectacle blind, figure-8, slip flange,…

The Quick Action Line Blind (QLB) is a blinding system that is used to isolate or “blind” equipment, typically for maintenance or inspection purposes. The technology allows the full blinding operation to be performed in minutes and offers a reduction in downtime of up to 95% compared to conventional systems such as spectacle blinds.

Convert your loss of production in benefits !

Reduce Downtime

Operate in minutes without tools, minimizing non-productive time.

Improve Safety

Physically disconnect the pipe, preventing any leakage from upstream to downstream.

No Tools

No cranes, spreaders, wrenches or anything else required.

Minimize Emissions

Significantly reduces emissions during maintenance operations.

Quickly Profitable

Cost-effective in just a few months for processes requiring recurring blinding operations.

How does it works ?

Please note that, prior to the operation of the ONIS Line blind (QLB), the pipe must be depressurized.

The ONIS QUICK ACTION LINE BLIND is a mechanical piping solution that ensures absolute tightness between upstream and downstream pipes, regardless of who is operating it. It reduces risks and costs while providing a reliable and cost-effective solution.

This mechanized positive isolation system is simple and quick to use, providing reliable performance in any positive isolation operation. For all ONIS quick-action line blinds, the two forged half-bodies/seats are actuated by a lever or hand wheel connected to a gearbox. The efficient and reliable synchronized eccentric shafts generate the flange spreading movement, allowing the displacement of a slide gate designed with a full bore and a blind position.

Clamping is as simple as spreading. Just operate the lever or handwheel in the opposite direction. This quick-action mechanism is self-locking and resistant to overpressure and vibration.

There are only four gaskets on the slide gate. Two are used at a time. You can check or replace them without disassembling the slide gate.

This positive isolation equipment is factory-set and tested, eliminating the need for on-site adjustments after installation or operation. It ensures optimal tightness for any operator.

Technical specifications

All Quick Action Line Blind are designed following these specifications:

  • Forged bodies up to 42”.
  • Spreading design with no internal mechanism and no internal gasket.
  • Only four gaskets are located on slide gate: 2 accessible for maintenance during production.
  • Perfect sealings whoever is operating the line blind.
  • Self-locking design.
  • 100 % full bore

Onis Quick Action Line Blind is a patented technology. Indeed, the product was designed with the specific purpose of guaranteeing 100% positive isolation, thereby ensuring the protection of your operators, your equipment, and your profitability. Additionally, 100% of Onis line blinds are subject to rigorous testing at our facility.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does an ONIS device work?

An ONIS device is a mechanical device that allows a single operator to spread a pipe without the use of tools. This is achieved through the use of eccentric shafts that facilitate the sliding movement of the gate, which can be equipped with various accessories.

What range of products can you supply ?

Our manufacturing capabilities extend from 1’’ to 52’’, with a maximum pressure of 420 bars and a temperature range of -120°C to +650°C. Please refer to the product page for detailed specifications.

Are ONIS devices compatible with all types of media ? Gas, fluid, with particles ?

ONIS devices are compatible with all types of products. Our devices are suitable for use with a range of fluids, gases, and other media, including those with particles or other suspended solids.

Can ONIS Quick Action Line blind replace a valve?

No, a mechanized line blind is not a valve. It is a mechanical device which replaces figure 8 or spectacle blind. A line blind is a real positive isolation device and a valve is not: when a valve leaks, the leak is going downstream into the pipe. With a line blind, it is impossible because upstream and downstream pipes are physically separated with a steel plate. More information on the blog article “Positive Isolation Level of piping.”
