How does it work?
How to operate it ?
One rupture disc is currently operational, while the other is temporarily offline outside of the pipe. As for an ONIS line blind, the gaskets are accessible for inspection or replacement while the process is in progress.
Once the rupture disc has been activated or requires inspection, the pipe will be drained and the bypass opened. At this point, one operator will proceed with a standard ONIS line blind procedure. The flange’s spreading movement is generated by efficient and reliable synchronized eccentric shafts, which allow the slide gate equipped with two rupture disc holders to be displaced.
Nota : there are only 2 gaskets on the line.
This quick-action clamping mechanism is self-locking and resistant to overpressure and vibration
When your process is back in production, the maintenance team has all the time to change the activated rupture disc.
Why use a QDC ?
Rupture discs are utilized to safeguard upstream installations from overpressure. The objective of this pressure relief system is to prevent asset failure by allowing for the controlled release of pressure. This rupture disc can be deployed at the primary or secondary level. The primary applications of rupture discs are in various industries, including chemical, pharmaceutical, steel, and power.
In the primary level of protection, the rupture disc has to be changed each time it has been activated. Handling a QDC can be interesting if the frequency of activation is high.
When a rupture disc is used as a secondary pressure relief device, it acts as a mechanical barrier for downstream equipment against corrosive and chemical attacks.
In this second application, the rupture discs can be checked or changed each time it is required (for each pressure relief valve setting operation, which can be every 6 months due to country regulation).
The QDC protects the overpressure and the corrosion of the downstream pressure relief valve. It also limits the OPEX of the unit.
It can be equipped with two rupture discs for a very quick change. Alternatively, it can be equipped with one rupture disc and one blinding disc, allowing the operator to safely and positively isolate the downstream equipment for maintenance.
Thanks to QDC, the opening time of the pipe is drastically reduced, limiting the exposure of operators and environmental risks.

What maintenance is needed ?
In the event of damage, only the four seals require replacement. ONIS advises that grease be injected into grease fittings at least once a year. No further maintenance is required.
